Crown princess’ son hit with restraining order

Police have issued a restraining order against Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a relationship before she married Crown Prince Haakon. He’s no longer allowed to contact his latest girlfriend after assaulting her and trashing her home in early August.

Her attorney confirmed the restraining order reported first by newspaper Aftenposten and confirmed by state broadcaster NRK. Høiby is also charged with making threats against her after his rampage in her Oslo apartment. They were seen together shortly after Høiby’s latest violent attack but now he’s been ordered to stay away from her.

“The restraining order applies until March next year,” attorney Mette Yvonne Larsen told NRK, adding that she had no further comment.

Høiby has also been charged with assaulting two other former girlfriends and faces further questioning as police compile their case against him. He was allowed to travel to Italy while the rest of the royal family was attending the controversial wedding of Princess Martha Louise to a self-proclaimed American shaman last weekend. He has admitted to a history of drug and alcohol abuse. King Harald this week announced changes within the royal hierarchy that has now excluded Høiby and the princess’ new husband.
